The Torah teaches that the souls of special needs children only come halfway into this world. The other half remains in the ideal, heavenly perfected space above.  As such, they are unaffected by many of the mundane, trivial aspects of the world in which we live.  They are elevated, higher souls, with so much to teach us.  It is our duty to guide those with needs outside of the mainstream to share their gifts with us. Our responsibility as teachers is to be patient, engaging and truthful in facilitating that process.  For this reason, we are privileged to work with all of G-d's children, no matter their diagnosis or lack their of, despite any past issues or experiences, and we humbly find much meaning in the privilege of doing so.
